Mining Scaler Roadway and Work-Envelope Checklist
Travel clearance and work clearance are different. The scaler must move through the roadway, deploy the boom, reach the loose rock, and preserve a safe operating zone.

Map travel and work envelopes separately
| Area | Questions |
|---|---|
| Travel | Minimum width and height, curves, grade, floor, water, ruts, supports, cable |
| Work | Roof and wall profile, target height and side reach, boom articulation, exclusion zone |
| Hazards | Loose rock, support status, utilities, ventilation, dust, water, visibility |
| Power | Voltage, frequency, cable length and route, connector, protection, grounding |
| Breaker | Rod, impact, hydraulic match, rock condition, dust or water suppression |
| Procedure | Inspection, scaling sequence, operator protection, spotter, recovery, maintenance |
Resolve source conflicts with the exact drawing
If a brochure paragraph and parameter table give different minimum sections, request the released general arrangement, travel envelope, work envelope, safety clearance, and a signed site-fit review.
A machine entering the roadway does not prove it can scale the full roof and walls safely. Approve both the travel and deployed work envelopes.
